​▶️The main focus - EWG Green started because they couldn't find anything in the market that is safe for long term usage. When they discovered EWG, they realised that although a product can be rated green, individual ingredients could be rated orange or red.

When clicked to read more about these nasty ingredients, more often that not, we learnt about long term usage side effects.

▶️Example:  We shower often, especially in a humid climate - which means these chemicals could build up in my babies. This is where they decided to do the impossible by insisting that all ingredients in their products be EWG Green.

What are the differences between EWG Green Products and EWG Green Ingredients?

EWG Green Products may contain EWG Orange (moderate hazard) and EWG Red (high hazard) ingredients. However, due to the presence of EWG Green ingredients in high quantity, the product's rating averages out to be EWG Green.

▶️For example, if a product contains a majority of EWG Green ingredients AND has added Fragrance/Parfum (high hazard), the product could still be rated as EWG Green Product.

However, did you know Fragrance/Parfum has an EWG 8 rating, which means highly hazardous?

Quoting EWG, "The word "fragrance" or "parfum" on the product label represents an undisclosed mixture of various scent chemicals and ingredients used as fragrance dispersants such as diethyl phthalate.

 Fragrance mixes have been associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system."
